Neighborhood Cleanup

Neighborhood & Volunteer Cleanup Events

Community groups and homeowner associations can request up to four cleanup events per year, with extra containers provided by the city (if available). All regulations shall be followed pursuant to §90-9(a)(b)(c) of City code. 

How to Request an Event

  • Submit a request at least 30 days in advance to sanitation superintendent. 
  • Provide a point of contact for before, during, and after the event.
  • Choose a container placement site that is not on city property.

Cleanup Rules & Free Trash Disposal

  • No extra charges for properly bagged trash placed in city-provided containers. 
  • Volunteers cannot overload containers beyond their height or sides. 
  • Volunteers can dump trash for free at the city transfer station and landfill on the event day.
  • All waste must be properly secured according to city rules. 
  • Volunteers must give sanitation staff their Volunteer Group Name / ProjectNamwhen dumping. 

The following materials are prohibited materials and shall not be placed in a commercial waste roll-off container for collection §90-65(b):

  1. Liquid paint
  2. Liquid wastes
  3. Pesticides
  4. Batteries 
  5. Motor oil
  6. Herbicides
  7. Refrigerators
  8. Air-conditioners
  9. Tires
