Lead and Copper Rule

On December 16, 2021, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced the Revised Lead and Copper Rule to enhance regulations on lead in drinking water. A key requirement is for utilities to develop an inventory of both utility-owned and customer-owned service lines and make it public by October 16, 2024. Using EPA guidance, the City of Wichita Falls has created an inventory of over 34,000 service lines. This inventory is essential for the long-term goal of eliminating lead service lines throughout the city.
