Deputy Chief Scott Vaughn is a native of Wichita Falls, Texas and joined the Wichita Falls Police Department in July 1996. He graduated from the 51st Police Academy. Deputy Chief Vaughn was promoted to Sergeant in December 2006, promoted to Lieutenant in March 2013, promoted Captain in November 2015 and promoted to Deputy Chief in October 2021.
His previous assignments with the Wichita Falls Police Department have been in Patrol, Traffic, Criminal Investigations, Strategic Planning and Community Services.
In addition, Deputy Chief Vaughn holds a Master Peace Officer certification through TCOLE. He graduated from Hirschi High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University. He is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College and the FBI National Academy.

Services
The Community Operations Division includes the Field Services Section who answer calls for service 24 hours a day seven days a week, 365 days every year. The Community Operations Division also contains the Community Services Division. The Community Services Division is comprised of the Traffic Unit, Public Information Officer, Crime Free Unit, Crime Stoppers, Motorcycle Traffic Enforcement, DARE, Recruiting &Training, Accident Investigation, Grant Management and Research, Statistics and Analysis. We handle traffic calls, coordinate special events planning and high traffic situations like Fourth of July Celebrations and Hotter-n-Hell Hundred.
We have special programs to educate our citizens on how to become involved in their community with the Citizens Police Academy and Neighborhood Watch programs, DARE, and Crime Stoppers.
We also work all traffic accidents, all calls for service, training for our department and surrounding departments and agencies.
