Surrender Process
Step 1: Explore Alternatives
- Please contact rescue groups or use rehoming tools first if surrendering is not urgent
Step 2: Contact Animal Services at 940-761-8894 (hours above)
- Let them know you need to surrender a pet. They will provide guidance on space availability and current intake requirements.
Step 3: Schedule an appointment to discuss the surrender of your pet
- You will not bring your pet to this appointment.
Step 4: Schedule a drop-off or pick up for your surrendered pet
- Animal Services is located at 1207 Hatton Rd. in Wichita Falls, TX
- Front Desk Hours are above (must complete Steps 1-3 first!)
- Please bring the following:
- Your contact information
- The pet’s name, age, bred, and temperament
- Vet records or proof of vaccinations if you have them (especially Rabies)
- Any known microchip number
- If the animal is adoptable, bring items like favorite toys or blankets to help with the transition
Step 5: Payment (click the Fees and Forms button to view fees)
- Pay the standard surrender fee at drop off
- If an Animal Control Officer has to come and pick-up the animal, then an addition charge will be added
Step 6: What Happens Next?
- Your pet may be placed up for adoption or evaluated for transfer to rescue groups
