Jeff Tatum serves as the Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Wichita Falls, overseeing the enforcement of municipal ordinance violations and Class C Misdemeanors. Jeff also provides legal advice regarding code enforcement, animal control, and health department offenses.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1998, Jeff obtained his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2005 and began his career as an Assistant City Attorney in Midland, Texas. In 2007, he transitioned to the Midland County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases. Over the years, Jeff gained extensive trial experience in prosecutorial roles with the Bexar County and Walker County District Attorney’s Offices, including serving as Misdemeanor Chief in Walker County.
In 2015, Jeff joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas as a Senior Law Clerk through FSA Federal. There, he worked on criminal and civil asset forfeiture cases, supporting attorneys with research, case preparation, and presentations.
Jeff’s vast experience across local, state, and federal legal systems, combined with an interest in municipal law and prosecution, brought him to the City of Wichita Falls in 2025.
