Chief of Police Manuel Borrego


Chief Manuel Borrego joined the Wichita Falls Police Department in 1982 after being honorably discharged from the USMC. He promoted through the civil service system to the rank of Captain. In 2010 he was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of the Field Services Division. In 2012 he was
appointed to the position of Police Chief for the Wichita Falls Police department.

Chief Borrego had a parallel career in the United States Army Reserves. He held the rank of Command Sergeant Major upon retirement in 2012 after 32 years of service. His military occupation specialty includes: Fires Support Specialist for the Field Artillery and an Army Reserve Drill Sergeant. His overseas assignments included a tour in Okinawa in 1980 with the USMC and in 2009 he was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a detachment of the 95 th Division USAR, where he earned the Bronze Star medal.

Chief Borrego’s education includes a Bachelor Degree from Midwestern State University. He is a graduate of the 182nd FBI National Academy and the Bill Blackwood Leadership Command College (LEMIT) Sam Houston State University. He is also a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major
Academy at Ft. Bliss Texas. He currently holds the TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer certification.
