  2. 2019 Asphalt Rehabilitation Project

    November 14, 2019, 8:00 AM - December 30, 2019, 12:00 PM @ Brook Avenue from the Kell West frontage road to Seymour Highway.

    As part of the 2019 Asphalt Rehabilitation Project, concrete and asphalt repairs will begin today, November 14th on Brook Ave from Kell West frontage road to Seymour Highway. The construction will require the contractor to periodically close lanes of traffic in a small section, however, one Northbound and Southbound lane will remain open through the duration of the project repairs. Repairs are expected to take approximately one month, weather permitting. Please use caution and drive slowly when traveling in this area.

  3. ElectriCritters: A Lighted Christmas Display

    ElectriCritters, River Bend Nature Center's annual lighted Christmas display will be open every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. With the flip of a switch, more than 60,000 lights on the 195 lighted displays will glitter and sparkle, bringing the sights and sounds of the season to adults and children.

Its purpose is to provide a festive atmosphere on the Midwestern State University campus, to serve as an outreach to the community, and to be a focal point for holiday activities in North Texas. The MSU-Burns Fantasy of Lights is filled with individual displays that showcase themes or characters from well-known children’s stories, fairy tales, and holiday icons.

Clara and her three grown kids have always known they were special, ever since the miraculous night in 1942 when the Blessed Mother appeared to Grandpa in his barbershop! Since then, the neighborhood has looked upon the Nowak's' 20-foot commemorative shrine as a beacon of hope and faith amidst the urban rubble. And now daughter Ruth unveils her plan to write and star in a one-woman show about the family miracle so the "whole world will know!" However, as her plans for theatrical immortality unfold, the entire family's faith is shaken to the very core when a deathbed confession causes the family legend to unravel. The results are heartfelt and hilarious.

    Everyone will meet at the shop, ride over to Hamilton Park ,then we will ride through the Country Club neighborhood and look at the fantastically decorated houses on our bicycles! Afterwards, we will have some hot chocolate, Christmas themed snacks and other refreshing beverages back at the shop! Be sure to put it on your to do list! The weather is supposed to be GREAT!

  12. 2019-Morningside Luminaries

    Perfect for getting into the Christmas Spirit! For three decades, residents and visitors alike have enjoyed this serene neighborhood all lit up with glowing luminaries that line the streets. Some 2,000+ candles nestled in paper bags will give this historic neighborhood an ethereal glow from dusk until the candles blow out. The lanterns will line the winding streets around the Morningside Park, Morningside Pond and on Ninth Street. Entrance is 9th and Grant. Please DIM your lights when in the neighborhood and watch for pedestrians. And the glowing lanterns aren't the only reason to cruise through this historic 38-acre neighborhood. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the homes in Morningside boast a variety of architectural styles from American Foursquare to Georgian and English Tudor. Some homes date as far back as 1919.
