Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA)
As of October 1, 2013, the City of Wichita Falls Housing Division and the County Public Health District will no longer be administrators of the HOPWA Program for Wichita County area residents. Administration of this program has been outsourced to another agency. Persons interested in housing assistance from the HOPWA Program should contact the following:
AIDS Outreach Center
Attn: Ashley Campbell
400 North Beach St, Suite 100
Fort Worth, TX 76111
The Wichita Falls/Wichita County Public Health District receives funding from the State of Texas for rental assistance for people with AIDS. The City does not receive these funds directly. The Housing Division, in cooperation with the district, operates the program. Interested individuals can apply at the Wichita Falls/Wichita County Public Health District at Third and Broad Streets.
The Housing Division also requires that applicants for this program apply for the Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program (formerly Section 8). When participants are transferred to the Housing Choice Voucher Program, this action opens the HOPWA program to more individuals.
