Ken Prillaman was appointed Fire Chief, City of Wichita Falls, Texas on July 15, 2019. He previously served as Fire Chief, Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Director for the City of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He brings a wealth of experience in both executive management and firefighting. He has two Associate Degrees in Fire Science and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia Southern University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration with a Fire Investigation major.
He has two Associate Degrees in Fire Science and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia Southern University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration with a Fire Investigation major. He is a Nationally Certified Fire Officer III, Fire Investigator, Fire Instructor II as well as an IAAI-Fire Investigation Technician and Evidence Collection Technician. He is a Minnesota Certified Emergency Management Director and a National Registry EMT. Ken has an excellent reputation as a command officer and teaches incident command in high-rise operations for the National Fire Academy. In 2019, Ken earned his credential as a Chief Fire Officer from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
Assistant Fire Chief Donald Hughes began his career with the Wichita Falls Fire Department on May 14, 1984 and graduated from the 35th Fire Academy in August of 1984. In February 1996 he was promoted to Fire Equipment Operator and served in that position until November 1999 when he was promoted to Fire Lieutenant. He served in the Lieutenant position until February 2002 when he was promoted to Captain, and served in that capacity until November 2011.
In November 2011 he was promoted to Battalion Chief in Operations and served in that position until December 2012, and at that time was transferred to Battalion Chief in charge of the Training Division. While serving in Training, he accepted an offer of the Assistant Chief position in August 2014.
