Health Advisories


Health Advisories are advisory and/or cautionary statements from local health officials, state health agencies, or federal health agencies that provide guidance, information, or precautions relating to the health and safety of the residents of Wichita Falls, Wichita County, and the State of Texas. They can relate to weather conditions, disease trends, events that can impact on health or well being, or precautions residents need to take. Visitors should check back frequently as these advisories are posted as quickly as they are received. Product Recalls


Product recalls are postings that recall food products, manufactured goods, toys, or other items which the continued use of could impact on the health and/or safety of the public. They include such items as contaminated food and/or drink products, defective merchandise, toys that can be hazardous to children, or other items that can impact on public safety and health. As with Health Advisories, Product Recalls are posted as soon as received, so visitors should check them often for any new updates.  TreeHouse Foods, Inc.(NYSE: THS) today amended certain information regarding the products it recalled yesterday. TreeHouse yesterday announced the voluntary recall of products that may be impacted by sunflower seeds.

 Hickory Harvest Foods, under advice from its sunflower kernel supplier, SunOpta, is recalling a limited number of products that have the potential to be contaminated with Usteria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

 Creative Snacks Co. of Greensboro, North Carolina is recalling specific lot codes of bulk and packaged sunflower seed products due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. We have been notified by SunOpta, our sunflower seed supplier, that the company has issued a voluntary recall for sunflower seeds that were processed in their Crookston, Minnesota facility between February 1, 2016 and February 19, 2016.

 Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co., of Chicago, ILL is voluntarily recalling a variety of Millville Protein Chewy Bars products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

 As part of the ongoing recall of CRF Frozen Foods vegetables, Twin City Foods, Inc. of Stanwood, Washington is voluntarily recalling items containing organic peas it received from CRF Frozen Foods. These products include Central Market Organic Peas and Mixed Vegetables, HEB Organic Mixed Vegetables, Sweetfrost Mixed Vegetables, and Woodstock Organic Mixed Vegetables due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Stahlbush IQF Green Bean retail packages because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

 ConAgra Foods is voluntarily recalling Watts Brothers Farms Organic Mixed Vegetables, Organic Super Sweet Corn (Yellow/Gold), and Organic Peas and Trader Joe’s Organic Super Sweet Corn due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This voluntary action is being undertaken because the Watts Brothers and Trader Joe’s recalled products contain vegetables that are part of the recent CRF Frozen Foods recall.

 Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc. is voluntarily recalling various Not-Ready-To Eat frozen food items due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This voluntary action is being undertaken in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture and the US Food and Drug Administration because the recalled products contain vegetables that are part of the recent CRF Frozen Foods recall.

United Natural Trading LLC, d/b/a Woodstock Farms Manufacturing, Edison, NJ, is voluntarily recalling a limited number of lots of conventional walnuts and walnut-containing products (see attachment for products and lot numbers) that were purchased from Gibson Farms and sold under the Nature’s Promise, Woodstock, Market Basket, and Woodfield Farms brands due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes.

The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., today announced a voluntary recall of a small quantity of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars after an ingredient supplier was found to have distributed sunflower kernels that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono). There have been no reported illnesses to date. However, Quaker is initiating the voluntary recall in an abundance of caution to protect public health

General Mills is collaborating with health officials to investigate an ongoing, multistate outbreak of E. coli O121 that may be potentially linked to Gold Medal flour, Wondra flour, and Signature Kitchens flour (sold in Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel, Shaws, Vons, United, Randalls, and Acme). Out of an abundance of caution, a voluntary recall is being made.

Kashi Company is expanding its previously announced voluntary recall to include two varieties of Kashi brand snack bars – including one product in Canada – and two varieties of Bear Naked granola because they contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by its supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. SunOpta expanded the scope of impacted products after Kashi announced its recall in the United States on May 31.

The Hershey Company (NYSE:HSY) has issued a voluntary recall of three products sold under the SoFit brand after a supplier who provides sunflower seeds for the products expanded its recall on June 1. The supplier SunOpta issued a recall after discovering that it produced sunflower seeds that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Post Consumer Brands is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of its Great Grains Protein Blend – Honey, Oats & Seeds cereal because it contains sunflower seeds that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The sunflower seeds were obtained from a supplier, SunOpta, which recalled its ingredient.

General Mills announced today a voluntary national recall of four specific flavors of Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars. The recall is being issued as part of sunflower kernel supplier SunOpta’s ongoing national recall for the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. General Mills has not received any direct consumer reports of confirmed illnesses related to this supplier issue.

Kerry Inc. was notified by our supplier that two of their products, a red bell pepper nugget and a jalapeno nugget, were made with a small percentage of affected flour which was recalled by General Mills because it may be contaminated with E. coli O121.

No illnesses reported to date have been connected to cake mix.

The 7 oz recalled product has Best By dates of 3/22/17 and 5/17/17 and was sold in retail stores in the following states - AL, CA, WA, UT, and TX. The 14 oz recalled product has a Best Buy date of 6/17/17 and was sold only in Stockton, CA.

Censea, Inc. is recalling its A-PAC 8/12 count Headless Shell on Black Tiger Shrimp, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling approximately 10,000 cases of Kellogg’s® Eggo® Nutri-Grain® Whole Wheat Waffles because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No other Eggo products are impacted by this recall.
