Diabetes Empowerment Education Program

Wichita Falls, Texas- If you or a family member has Diabetes and you want tools to assist you in the management of your diabetes, call 761-7975 now to reserve your spot (space is limited). This class is FREE and open to the public. Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) is offered by the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District. Topics include:
  • Understanding the Human Body
  • Risk Factors
  • Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • Physical Activity
  • Diabetes Meal Planning
  • Diabetes Complications
  • Medications and Medical Care
  • Mobilizing Your Family and Friends
The program runs one evening a week for ten weeks and is taught by trained Health Educators using licensed Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) curriculum. Classes begin Thursday, January 8th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, in the Health District’s Clements Conference Room, 1700 3rd Street and will meet every Thursday for the following for 9 weeks. The program is sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services- Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section.

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or are the support person for someone diagnosed with one of these conditions, DO NOT put off learning more about your Diabetes. This disease can cause:
  • Heart Disease, Heart Attack and Stroke
  • Blindness
  • Kidney Disease
  • Nerve Disease and Amputation
  • Sexual Dysfunction
  • Miscarriage and Stillbirth
