We always welcome volunteers! Children ages 12 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian at all times. Those who are 17 can come and volunteer without a parent/guardian present, but they will have to have their parent/guardian sign a waiver to do so.
The volunteer orientation and training is held multiple times throughout the year. You can call the shelter or watch their Facebook page for dates and times. Volunteers help with the enrichment of the animals, making their stay in our facility better for them. Walking, bathing, training, and other tasks around the shelter are a few things volunteers can take part in. The main focus here is spending time with the animals.
If you're interested in volunteering, please stop in and pick up a volunteer application. It does take approximately two weeks for your application to be processed and approved as the City performs criminal background checks on all volunteers.
